Well that didn't last long

Just a few minutes ago I was over at the hospital walking back to the parking garage when behind me I heard some doctor's cell phone ring.

Middle-aged doctor answers the phone loudly:

"Hi Marcus."
(pause)
"Marcus are you there?"
(pause)
"Hello, Marcus?"
(20 second pause)
"Marcus?!"
(longer pause)
"Are you there, Marcus?"
(long LONG pause)
"Marcus?Marcus?Marcus?" (in rapid succession)

I turned around smiling to look at the doctor thinking that he must be a nice guy who is putting on a show to make some pregnant stranger smile because seriously, who does that?

Our eyes meet.

He snaps his phone shut and snarls,

"What are YOU looking at?"

to which i wanted to respond, "Wait, huh? are you talking to me? Wait. I can't hear you. Marcus? Marcus? Marcus?Marcus?Marcus?"
