Ooooh looky what we found!

This has been a hard week. Teddy, the one-eyed wonder basset foster dog that we refer to as "the dog that got away" was returned. his family didn't want him anymore. I can't really understand how a family can just get rid of their dog after they have had him for 2 YEARS...Teddy was the second dog we ever fostered and that one special dog that was incredibly hard to give up when he was adopted. Whenever anyone asks us, "But don't you get attached? isn't it hard when they get adopted?" and yes, Teddy was the one dog that I never got completely over. When he left Casa de Pocket he was 5 years old. He is now a much older, skinnier version of a sea lion and he can still croon like the best of 'em. He especially enjoys singing along to Johnny Cash.

Anyways, we could tell immediately something was wrong with him when he came through our door. To make an extremely long story short, Teddy started having seizures Tuesday night and we spent 3 hours at the 24 hour pet emergency room. The vet said that in all of her days she had never seen an animal is such pain. A morphine IV, many codeine pills, and frazzled nerves later, he is on the mend. There were a couple of times that I thought he had died in the night because he wouldn't move or respond. Today he ran for the first time since I've seen him and it is so great. we are slowly getting our Teddy back.

So if you have basic math skills and keep up with my crazy life, you can deduce that we now have 3 dogs, 2 cats, and a Pocket in a pear tree. we always told ourselves that we would never take 2 foster dogs at the same time but when it's Teddy, you find a way to make it all work.

Yes, that is one long piece of drool.

And yes, we plan on adopting him.
