Update

It's been so long since I last wrote. For months now I have been thinking about shutting down this blog because it rarely gets updated, and no one hates an un-updated blog any more than me.

A couple of things going on in my spontaneously nonspontaneous life:

  1. The house is up for sale. Duh, you knew that already. For the first week or so, NO ONE was calling about it. Not even a feigned interest. And then all of a sudden, we are getting calls round the clock. It is becoming common practice to get a phone call and have to change out of our pj's and wrangle the dogs into the back of the car in only a 15 minute window.
We are living in a perpetual state of Martha Stewart/Pottery Barn appearances that keeps our knuckles cracked and chapped from all of the clorox and cleaning products. I have baked many, many chocolate chip cookies to give the house the "I-baked-these-just-for-you smell. Eat one...and buy my house immediately" And because we can never really think of something to do with the dogs for an hour, we have driven all around the salt lake valley with two incredibly hyper dogs that insist on sitting on the arm console between the 2 front seats. Which is fine, until we make a left or right hand turn and a basset hound falls into your lap while you are driving.

  2. We are leaving for Florida on Tuesday. I can hear you now, "WHAT ARE YOU CRAZY? LEAVING TOWN WHILE YOUR HOUSE IS FOR SALE?" and i say back to you, "Yes. Apparently so." What was supposed to be a very relaxing vacation with some great friends might indeed turn in to a real estate maelstrom (yup, I used a thesaurus). I can already imagine the phone call from our agent "They want to put an offer in on your house. What are your thoughts? Can you get to a fax machine?" And me saying, "Oh sure. Let me just get out of my sea kayak and run to Kinkos for a minute. Be right back!"
At night, I think of all of the scenarios that could play out while we are out of town, from "Your house was robbed during the open house" to someone making an offer BEFORE we leave town and then we are in Florida, unable to conduct a house search for ourselves, which would inevitably leave us homeless or living in the Motel 6 for a few months until we find another house.

In all seriousness though, it is an exciting time. We chose to put the house up for sale thinking that it wouldn't sell for a long time and that could still be the truth. The Hot Pocket and myself get a thrill when we see people stop by our house and pick up a flyer. We just want someone to move in that will love this house as much as we have. It really and truly is a great little house.

Ahhh the ramblings of an anxious 20-something. Astute, I say. Astute.
