The "Yes Binge" is something i have been wanting to write about for a few weeks now. I had originally heard about this from James Gunn, who is a writer and director and husband of Jenna Fisher (aka Pam Beasley from The Office.) To hear in his own words what a "Yes Binge" is click here.
Basically, the "Yes Binge" is saying that for the next 6 months you will say "Yes" to anything you are on the fence about. Of course, if you have an immediate strong reaction to "no" you just say "no." Take for instance if someone came up to me and said, "Hey, let's go swimsuit shopping and enter a Hawaiian Tropics pageant" it would be a very firm and immediate "no." but if someone was like, "Let's go roller skate with the Salt Lake Derby Girls and get the crap beaten out of us" i might hesitate...and then the "Yes Binge" would mean that i would need to say "YES!" make sense? Basically if you are unsure, you just say yes.
This has forced me to get out of my comfort zone a little bit and it has proven to be very fun! I haven't been very consistent with the "Yes Binge" but anything that i have been truly undecided about, i now find myself just saying "yes" and doing it.
Take yesterday for example. Our friends called us to ask if we wanted to play touch football. I thought to myself, "I've never played touch football! I have never even thrown a football! I'm not sure if i'm any good! will i have fun?" but then i realized i was second guessing my answer to which i sucked it up and said "YES we will play." and what fun we had! and YES, i can't throw a football. YES i'm not sure i will ever understand the rules to football. YES i sucked it up pretty bad out there. YES i'm sore. and YES i had a really fun time!
I even said "YES" to the roller derby skating but something came up last minute. So i urge you to try it out! soon your schedule will be packed with fun stuff and you will be doing some really awesome things. just do it. just say "yes"

Sage advice. Many of us spend much too much time making excuses for why we can't take chances or try new things.
